On a recent trip to Europe, I stayed in a fabulous little boutique hotel in London. Unfortunately the name of the hotel escapes me at the moment, but it had views over a park and you could just about make out the river from our room. Everything about the place reeked of money, right down to the doormen and their wonderful black silk ties with a coat of arms embroidered on them. The concierge explained to me how the coats of arms thing worked, but it went over my head. I tried to buy one of their ties, but apparently you have to have been related to someone from centuries ago to qualify to wear one. Some people say that the English are unusual folk!
