So basically, forklift trucks or pallet jacks can be powered by diesel, LNG, or electric batteries. The ones powered by diesel are the ones fitted for outdoor use. Because they are powered by diesel, the combustion results to a dangerous gas called the carbon monoxide. This carbon is very dangerous and if inhaled by your employees in large amounts, it can result to carbon monoxide poisoning. This is one of the reasons why it is only for an outdoor use. Another is that the diesel powered forklifts have pneumatic tires which have higher clearing capacity and the pneumatic tires also allow heavier lifting.
The electric powered forklifts on the other hand do not emit any dangerous gas which makes it safe or indoor use. It also has cushion or rubber tires, a not so ideal tire for outdoors especially if the road in asphalt.
When you will be using forklift trucks for carrying heavy merchandises, it is also advisable that you buy the ones with counterweight balance. These machines have a specific weight counterbalance that will immediately lower the center of gravity of the machine.
