Most of the best water filtration systems will use carbon absorption as part of the methodology. In the carbon absorption method, water is passed through one or more carbon filters. As the water passes through, impurities such as chlorine, pesticides, and many other pollutants are absorbed from the water by the carbon. The drawback to carbon filters, however, is that carbon based filters don’t usually get rid of heavy metals and other solids that have been dissolved in the water.
