Everyone knows to shop the end of season sales, but do they actually do it. No, they think they don’t need a bathing suit in September or red snow pants in June and look no further. Of course, the selection won’t be the best, but if you make it a habit to look for seasonal items at the end of the season, you will find everything that you need. There is much more that you can do to become a successful sales shopper.
Don’t stick with clearance shopping, though. Clearance racks have good finds, but they are called finds for a reason. They are often squished between trendy clothes that don’t look good on anyone. Promotions and advertised sales will often have great deals. Signing up for a mailing list will mean that you are in on the best discounts available. With every purchase, do the math to make sure that you are getting a deal.
Boxing Day is so called because people box up their Christmas gifts and return them. The day after Christmas is one of the best shopping days of the year for clothes. Most sales won’t be as heavily advertised as before Christmas sales, but you will find some amazing bargains.
If you have a particular store that you love, be friendly with the staff. I remember trying on a blouse not too long ago that was divine. When I came out of the dressing room, the salesgirl, who I adore, told me that it was going on sale next week. She then asked me if I’d like her to hold it for me (which I did). Salespeople love serious shoppers, and serious shoppers love good salespeople.
This final tip applies not only to great shoppers, but to great dressers. You know who the great dressers are in your life. They always look good. However, if you looked in their wardrobe, you’d be surprised that they actually own very little, and what they do own looks almost plain. They wear classic clothes, like ladies white pants, and combine them in beautiful ways and are daring with accessories. Sales shoppers are always on the lookout for classics, because they last longer. They can be worn with more stuff, and they are just a better buy.
