For general maintenance of a wicker chair it is sufficient to dust it once in a while. Simply use a vacuum cleaner to full power and make sure to clean between the crisscross of the material. If some areas are difficult to reach you can use a small soft brush in order to get in all the nooks and crannies.
If you have the misfortune to have spots, on your wicker chairs, use a little soapy water and a sponge. Or if you need a little more scrubbing than that you can use a mild detergent, rinse well and let it dry in an area that is not exposed to full sun.
Sometimes wicker has acquired an unsightly grayish tint. You can remedy to that by adding a little bleach in the water (about 1/2 cup per quart of water). Let it work a while then rinse.
If some pieces of wicker have broken, they can be replaced. You can find some in the same color as your outdoor furniture, soak the blades in water until they are flexible and weave them in the missing spots in the same direction as the existing ones. Cut any excess with a very sharp cutter and glue the replacement pieces with a specialty glue.
A little advice if you want a completely new look for your wicker chair, change the color! The easiest way is to use spray paint in the color of your choice and ensure that you get into every crevice of the chair.
