Snoring is seen to be a major irritating disturbance in many people. Not only does it affect a majority of men but it concerns many women as well. But it must be remembered that snoring is a body abnormality and not a disease condition by itself. This abnormality causes an uncontrolled current of air through the nasal pathway resulting in vibration. The shaking in the throat sounds like a whistle and is typically observed when a person is fast asleep.
The main reason behind snoring is the obstruction or blockage in the respiration system. There are many products, which claim that they reduce the snoring. One of the products to reduce snoring is a nasal strip. You need to apply nasal strip on your nose before sleeping. These nasal stripes open the respiratory airways and prevent snoring. Another very recommended product is called snore guards but we will not be discussing it in this article.
It is quiet obvious that every person who snores breathes through the mouth and this can be prevented by a treatment called chin strap and the logic behind it is to keep once mouth closed and sleep in forward position so that the person is forced to breathe in and out through the nasal passage thus preventing them from snoring. It acts like a snoreguard but in a less invasive ways.
Others prefer the use of no snore pillows, designed in such a way that the nasal or the respiratory pathways are not obstructed. They help in balancing airflow in the nasal passage and not causing vibrations and hence reducing snoring. Reducing body weight can also help in reducing snoring, although all fat people do not necessarily snore. Regular exercise helps in keeping away the snoring problems.
Side lying method also greatly helps in reducing snoring. Reduction in smoking and drinking also contributes in controlling snoring, which cause constriction of the respiratory system. Care should also be taken to avoid mucous accumulation in the respiratory passage, which also yields to snoring due to the vibration of air.
