Posted by GuestPoster in Home and Furnishings on March 3rd, 2010
Carports come in a variety of designs, sizes, and materials. A carport can protect your vehicle from the harmful sun rays, hail, wind, rain and other types of outdoor damage. You can just as easily use a carport to shelter your recreational or outdoor vehicles. Carports typically come in standard sizes designed to shelter regular sized vehicles but you can also choose to special order one to house any size vehicle.
When deciding which material to invest in, you will quickly find a huge price difference when you start looking at metal materials, specifically steel. Steel carports cost more to purchase when compared to aluminum, wood, or vinyl but in return, you will get a more durable and stronger shelter. Steel is a heavier material and when galvanized, it is by far the best type of building materials on the market today.
The price of steel carports may seem steep but it is nothing compared to the cost of building a traditional garage on your property or adding on more square footage to your home. Kits or prefabricated shelters are usually the cheapest and by far the easiest to assemble and install. Such shelters come with detailed instructions and all of the supplies you will need. You will still need to choose a style or design that will best work for your vehicle and property. There are many style choices but most are either stand alone or attached in design. Attached means you will need to install the shelter directly next to your home or other building.
Once you have installed the carport you can then begin to consider a few additions that you can include. Carport lights are a popular addition because not only to they add more function to the space under the shelter, they also add security. The lights can deter burglars and vandals from your property. If you are not familiar with electrical work, it is best to hire a professional electrician to handle the light fixture installation for you.
