Causes and Treatment of Cat allergies

Cat allergies are caused by hypersensitivity to cats. The glycoprotein which exists in a cat’s dander, fur, and saliva is causing your allergic reactions. The allergic reaction to cats secretes histamine leading to signs like cough, nasal blockage, dyspnea, rash, runny nose or eyes, and sternutation.

A glycoprotein called Fel d1 is cat allergy’s allergen. It is very small which makes it diffuse effortlessly. This allergen can be everywhere.

A dog’s saliva proteins and fur causes our allergies towards them. The common symptoms that we can get from dog allergy are similar to cat hypersensitivity which is characterized by itching, coughing, rashes, nasal congestion, sneezing and watery eyes.

To prevent such symptoms you must always minimize your exposure to dogs and cats. If you just held a cat never forget to wash your hands first before touching your eyes. Have lesser drapes, carpets and other fabric furniture where cat allergens could stay. Have an air filter and vacuum cleaner that has an air hepa filtrate material, very efficient in filtering furs and dust triggering allergy.

Never forget to brush and bath your cat regularly to reduce high allergen concentration. If you are allergic to them, then avoid breathing in and out your nose when you are in front of such pets.
