A Garage Floor System Protects The Concrete

Unwanted events or accidents may happen at any time in your garage. It could be an oil leak that dripped on your concrete floor or possibly an oil spill while changing oil or working on the brakes. Both scenarios can result in an ugly garage floor. To avoid and to deal with this kind of problem, the best approach is to have a garage floor system made of an epoxy product. A concrete floor covering can be made of different type of coatings like a latex floor paint and enamel but, to have a durable and long life floor, an epoxy product is the best.
When using an epoxy, two ingredients are combined together which causes a chemical reaction and, as a result, forms a very hard and durable surface which is the epoxy. These are liquid ingredients until they are combined and mixed together. Once cured, the liquid mixture becomes a hard and tough solid. Fiberglass boats and camper shells use the same technique when they are produced. The only difference between an epoxy floor and a boat made of fiberglass is that the latter needs mesh webbing for support and the floor needs the concrete. The epoxy actually becomes surface of the floor system.
An epoxy garage floor covering is so simple to install and it can be bought in different colors. In its earlier days, the only color of an epoxy was gray which is just like the color of the original plain gray concrete floor. At present times, almost any color you want can be added to the epoxy. To make the floor more colorful and brilliant, you can buy a separate color flake kit which you use by spreading it over the surface once it is rolled but not yet cured. As a result, you just dressed up your garage and now it looks more exciting and nice.
Some people think that concrete is imperishable, that is why a garage floor is often times left as dull concrete and is taken for granted. But the truth is, your floor can be more durable and protected if you used epoxy for your garage floor system. You will be amazed at the life that it can add to your garage floor.

Remember a clear coating refreshes your floor. You can color-coordinate to match the homes exterior, or use a contrasting color. Colors are made of acrylic paint chips, which are very durable. With staining wear and tear is almost non-existent from walking and driving on it.
If there are imperfections in the floor base, simply fill in, then coat. A medium or light paint chip is recommended for a non-decorative floor. To prevent liquid penetration and moisture build up under the layer, use a quality coating. More layers you have the longer it will last.
The more layers of the coating you use, the more durable the floor. In addition, a high impact resistance garage floor coating is helpful in shops that have heavy machines with service areas and high traffic on the floors. Less of a coating will not hold up to the daily wear and tear in these shops, they need high impact resistance coating.
