The Profession of a Successful Doctor

Tips on how to become a doctor are important because becoming a doctor is a challenging and long process. If you do not know what it takes to be a doctor, you may end up wasting a lot of your time, energy, and resources. The process must start at high school because you need good grades and you need science classes to be admitted into a pre-med program. In high school, you should take chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics. In high school, you should consider volunteering in a doctor’s office to understand what it takes.

After high school, apply to a bachelor’s degree in a college or a university. This takes 4 years and it is called pre-med – it is a requirement to become a doctor. In the 4 years, you will take general and organic chemistry, physics, and biology. To be admitted into medical school, you will need a GPA of at least 3.3. You should choose a college or a university with a renowned pre-med program to increase your chances of admittance into medical school. If possible, you should apply to colleges that are affiliated with medical schools.

In the process of becoming a doctor, the next step is to take the MCAT, or the Medical School Admissions Test. This is done in the final year of college and you should take practice tests before taking the test – try to get 10 and above in the test in the scale ranging from 1 to 15. After getting the results, apply to medical school. The school takes 4 years and you will be a certified M.D. after graduation. After medical school, choose what you want to specialize in and seek residency. You will be an intern in your specialty and this will take anything from 3- 8 years, depending on what you have specialized. After the residency, you can continue at the hospital or in another hospital as a full doctor.
