When you install artificial grass, you’re committing yourself to possible greater expense than you realize. First of all, the original grass has to be removed. So you have to budget your cost estimates to cover this expense. Secondly, costs depends a lot on the area of the country where you’re installing it, but you can figure on an average artificial grass cost / expense of about $10 per square foot.
For a higher quality artificial grass product, especially one in which the product has been guaranteed to be non-toxic and lead free, the price may increase to as much as $15 or even $20 a square foot. And third, even though you’re getting rid of the weekly expense in mowing the lawn, artificial grass does not last forever. And if you lay the grass in a high traffic area, you may end up replacing it every 6 years or so.
