The more we learn about diabetes, it’s causes, treatments, etc. – the better for all sufferers. Nearly all of the progress in methods of treatments over the years has been due to the tireless research efforts of dedicated people and organizations.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) is one of the major supporters of diabetes research. They fund many of the clinical trials from which we all receive valuable understanding of diabetes. But, right along side them is the American Diabetes Foundation – the next largest organization in the amount of money that it pours into diabetes research.
In addition to its research funding, however, the American Diabetes Foundation is instrumental in teaching people with diabetes how to live with the disease. They do this by lobbying for funds from the government and they do it by passing on information of trials to their members.
