The Pinch Pleat Drape

The pinch pleat drape is a style that has been around for hundreds of years. At some stage in history, someone got sick and tired of looking at the same old flat lifeless curtain sitting on top of their window, and came up with a very easy way of giving it life and body, simply by pinching the top of the curtain. When you pinch a length of material at the top, you shape it into waves that travel all the way down to the floor. This has become a favourite amongst homeowners that like a nostalgic feel, as the drapes look full and lush with a pinch pleat.

If you like the fullness that this style affords, but not necessarily the pinches at the top, then you can get a cornice to cover it up. A cornice is basically a box shaped structure that fits over the top of your window curtain, hiding not only the pleats, but the hardware as well.
