I was at one of my son’s soccer games the other day and, once again, the ground condition was in a deplorable state thanks to a combination of recent rain, heavy traffic and poor ground drainage. As we often do we began discussing solutions to get over the poor playing conditions. Apart from putting in better drainage, the next obvious answer seems to be to lay artificial grass on our sports fields. We have a ground already laid with synthetic turf but one of the parents thought that during the summer months the artificial grass temperature grew too hot to be comfortable. I don’t know how true this is and he was only hearing it second hand so it could have been exaggerated beyond reason, but I’ve never heard any complaints from anyone who has used the ground.
